Vietnam
CHAI first started partnering with the Vietnamese government in 2006 to help fight HIV/AIDS. Today, we work together to strengthen the national response to the deadliest infectious and non-communicable diseases impacting the country.
We work with the government to expedite malaria elimination by 2030. Our support includes strengthening disease surveillance, introducing innovative vector control tools, and improving case management. We implement new TB-case-finding innovations to find the 40 percent of TB cases the government estimates are missed as part of broader efforts to reach Vietnam’s End TB 2035 goals. We leverage the national social health insurance system and Global Fund-procured drugs to help find, diagnose, and cure the nearly one million people living with hepatitis C. We support the development of an electronic learning management system that trains vaccination health workers and supports new vaccine introductions nationally. Finally, we strengthen the effectiveness and sustainability of national hypertension and diabetes programs through testing new interventions and analyzing and optimizing resource allocations. We are currently exploring work to bring eye healthcare to schools, reduce incidences of dengue, implement mental health programming, as well as primary healthcare and sustainable health financing.
