Overview
CHAI began work in Zimbabwe in 2006 to transform the health system to offer innovative, cost-effective, and high-quality healthcare towards universal health coverage for all. We have helped the government rapidly improve treatment and care for HIV and tuberculosis (TB) for adults and children, increased efforts to prevent transmission of HIV from mothers to babies and improved access to medical oxygen to treat COVID-19.
CHAI is also helping the government provide lifesaving interventions for mothers and newborns in the critical window around childbirth. We are helping the Ministry of Health and Child Care work to eliminate malaria through better disease surveillance and targeted responses to outbreaks. We support health financing reform, including the development and implementation of the National Health Financing Policy and Strategy.
