From January to June 2018, the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care, in collaboration with the Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council (ZNFPC) and the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI), ran a pilot program offering PrEP at two public health facilities, one rural and one urban. The pilot was designed to assess the feasibility of offering PrEP in the public sector as part of comprehensive HIV prevention services. As part of the pilot, the ministry and CHAI undertook a qualitative study to understand the perspectives of clients on key barriers, enablers, and motivators associated with starting, adhering to and continuing PrEP treatment.
