Overview
CHACHAI began supporting Indonesia’s Ministry of Health in 2006 to improve HIV diagnosis and treatment in the Papua and West Papua regions. We partnered with the government to implement its Rapidly Expanding Access to Care for HIV/AIDS (REACH) program, expanding access to quality HIV care, treatment, and support services for millions of Indonesians. Along the way, we trained thousands of health workers and helped establish nine Centers of Excellence to serve as regional referral centers for complicated cases.
In the last five years, we have expanded work to help reduce the burden of hepatitis and improve access to routine vaccinations. We have facilitated the nationwide scale-up of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCV), rotavirus vaccines (RV), and human papillomavirus vaccines (HPV). We have also partnered with the government to improve access to pediatric cancer treatment, screening and access to assistive technology for disabled children, and oxygen to treat COVID-19 and other conditions.
