Lesotho
Overview
CHAI began work in Lesotho in 2004, alongside the Ministry of Health, to reduce the significant burden of HIV/AIDS in the country. CHAI has worked with the government to improve access to lifesaving HIV treatment and diagnostics, improve HIV care for adults and children, and strengthen the health system. CHAI also helped the government to identify and link to care thousands of high-risk tuberculosis patients.
Today, we are helping the Ministry to introduce new and improved HIV medications such as dolutegravir-based regimens including TLD and are working to improve access to preventative tools for HIV including oral PrEP. We are assisting the government to improve its health financing structures, including annual budgeting, and to roll out new lifesaving vaccinations, product optimization and improving critical supply chain processes. CHAI is also working to reduce malnutrition in the country by helping the government to evaluate its supplementary feeding program.
