Myanmar

Overview

CHAI began work in Myanmar in 2013, supporting the government in its efforts to establish a robust health system to deliver quality, equitable health services. In addition to helping reduce the burden of tuberculosis (TB) and malaria in the country, CHAI worked with the government to improve access to diagnosis and treatment for HIV and helped it to create an inventory management system for the National AIDS Program.

Today, we are working with the Ministry of Health and partners to tackle new diseases such as hepatitis and ensuring that women have the tools that they need to safely plan their families. We have helped significantly increase the number of infants diagnosed and treated for HIV, assisted the Ministry of Health in developing the tools to better track and treat TB to reduce the number of cases of deadly multi-drug resistant TB (MDR-TB), and are working with the government to build capacity to improve malaria surveillance and case management in support of its national plan to eliminate malaria by 2030.
