Expansion into Malaria

Published May 7th, 2015

In 2007, CHAI expanded from its initial focus on HIV to apply its competencies towards improving the affordability and availability of effective drugs for malaria. CHAI’s malaria program rapidly grew to help government partners increase funding for malaria, improve access to quality diagnosis and treatment, and support evidence-based decision-making to target resources and accelerate progress towards elimination.

Since 2007, CHAI has supported governments seeking to achieve malaria elimination by analyzing the requirements for elimination, drafting strategic plans in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland to achieve it, and assisting with the mobilization of over US$20 million from donors to ensure implementation.
