Clinton Health Access Initiative Releases 2017 Annual Report

We are pleased to release the Clinton Health Access Initiative’s 2017 Annual Report.

Thanks to the continued support of our donors, the leadership of our partner governments, and our strong relationships with local communities, global organizations, other NGOs, and health service providers, CHAI has achieved some remarkable milestones over the year. Highlights include:

  • A breakthrough pricing agreement to accelerate access to TLD, a best-in-class, first-line HIV treatment, at around US$75 per person, per year for public sector purchasers in low- and middle-income countries.
  • The launch of the Community Access to Rectal Artesunate for Severe Malaria (CARAMEL) project to reduce global mortality among children by quickly and effectively treating them in the communities where they live.
  • Groundbreaking agreements to expand access to 16 essential cancer medications in Nigeria, Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania – countries which represent 44 percent of cancer cases in sub-Saharan Africa.

We have also renewed CHAI’s strategy and set important goals for the future. The Annual Report looks back at what we have accomplished in 2017, as well as toward the goals that we have set for each of our programs over the next five to 10 years.

Since CHAI was founded in 2002, we have accomplished a great deal toward fulfilling our mission to help save lives, reduce the burden of disease, and enable people to fulfill their potential. We aim to have even further impact over the coming decade.
