Selection

Once we receive your application, we select profiles that best match the position advertised. If you are selected for an interview, the recruitment team will contact you via email. Most successful candidates should expect to hear from our Talent Acquisition Team within 2-4 weeks.

HR Interview

If your application is selected, you will be invited to conduct a preliminary phone or in-person interview with one of CHAI’s Talent Acquisition representatives. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, not everyone will be contacted for an initial interview. Depending on the position you apply for, you may also be asked to complete a technical exercise. If this is a required part of the process, the Talent Acquisition representative will brief you on what to expect during your initial HR interview.

Shortlist

Applicants who successfully complete the first steps of the process will be invited to speak to the hiring manager in the relevant program or department. Most roles at CHAI will require strong communication abilities, excellent project management, and solid analytical skills. For these reasons, most hiring manager interviews will strive to assess both your team fit and your technical skills. It is common for interviews to have both behavioral and technical case elements. If the role requires any additional language skills, those abilities will also be evaluated during this stage. For applicants, this is your opportunity to meet the manager and ask for more information about the position. On average, candidates will complete two to five interviews with the manager and other members of the team.

CHAI offers dynamic and rewarding opportunities for individuals to work with the organization in order to achieve short term deliverables. On average volunteer positions with CHAI are 3 to 6 months in length. CHAI strives to make these opportunities cost-neutral for the candidate by covering flights, housing, and a living stipend.

CHAI’s EAP provides resources and referrals for a wide variety of personal needs and is available for employees and household members. All services are free and confidential.

Life, AD&D, and Disability Insurance

CHAI provides life, AD&D (Accidental Death & Dismemberment), and disability insurance coverage for staff. The premiums for these benefits are fully paid by CHAI.

Supplemental Insurance Options

CHAI employees may elect additional insurance coverages for themselves and/or their dependents at group discounted rates. Supplemental insurance is available for vision, life, cancer, and accident coverage. Participation in these plans is voluntary, and premiums are paid by the employee.

Emergency Medical and Evacuation Assistance

The health, safety, and security of each employee is taken extremely seriously at CHAI. Any employee traveling to and/or working in a foreign country on behalf of CHAI has access to emergency medical and security assistance through Healix International, a leading emergency travel support provider, at no cost to the staff member.

Annual Home Leave

For every 12 months an expatriate staff member is employed by CHAI overseas in a full-time capacity, they will be eligible for reimbursement of one round trip economy air fare ticket to their home base for the staff member and each immediate family member (i.e. spouse and children who may be living with them in their country of assignment).

Retirement

CHAI offers a pension plan which includes a 6% employer contribution. For US citizens based abroad, CHAI offers a 401k, with up to a 6% employer contribution.
