Kelly McCrystal is the Executive Vice President of Women and Children’s Health at CHAI, overseeing programs in maternal and newborn health, sexual and reproductive health, diarrhea and pneumonia, nutrition, and women’s cancers. She also serves as Chief Strategy Officer for CHAI and led the development of CHAI’s new five-year strategy that was approved by CHAI’s Board in 2018.

Prior to these roles, Ms. McCrystal was the head of New Initiatives at CHAI, leading the design and launch of CHAI’s maternal and newborn health program, which in its first pilot implementation in Northern Nigeria, led to a 37 percent reduction in maternal deaths and 43 percent reduction in newborn deaths in a span of 12 months. She also led the development and launch of CHAI’s nutrition and cancer programs.

Ms. McCrystal joined CHAI in 2011 as Deputy Country Director in Tanzania, where subsequently as Country Director she directed the expansion of CHAI’s programs in Tanzania to include supporting the government’s introduction of new vaccines and expanding malaria rapid testing in the private sector.

Prior to joining CHAI, Ms. McCrystal spent 17 years designing and implementing large-scale e-commerce and information systems for various companies. Ms. McCrystal also started a successful technology training company in partnership with the University of California-Irvine.

Ms. McCrystal received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
