The MOH, in collaboration with its key stakeholders like CHAI Ethiopia and other implementing partners, has been working on health technology management which include procurement of different medical devices/equipment like Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen generating plants, manifolds, pipeline systems and power generators to meet the additional oxygen need for COVID-19 pandemic management and beyond.
To improve the optimum service of a given medical device in its operational life, availability of well-equipped functional Maintenance workshop has significant impact to reduce unnecessary cost, interruption of service and subsequently to improve quality of health service at health facilities. Accordingly, MOH has started working on renovation of Tirunesh Beijing General Hospital Maintenance workshop through procuring of the Biomedical Maintenance toolkits, analyzers, office furniture and related activities to serve as a model and Center of Excellence in maintenance and training workshop in the Country.
Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) carries out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access to quality health services. Apart from the COVID-19 support to MOH, CHAI Ethiopia is currently working in the following programs: Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH), HIV Access, Lab Services, Vaccines, Child Survival/Essential Medicine program, Assistive Technology, NTDs and Health Financing. CHAI invites eligible bidders for the supply of the aforementioned items and services at Tirunesh Beijing General Hospital.
CHAI is seeking quotes which include the procurement/supply of materials, installation, training and related services of:
- Lot One: Biomedical Maintenance Workshop Calibration and Analyzers
- Lot Two: Electrical & Electronics Workshop hand tools and test equipment
- Lot Three: Mechanical Workshop Hand Tools and Machineries.
- Lot Four ICT Equipment
Detailed specifications for all the above items can be found in Annex A. The contract shall include the quantity of the items above; all taxes, duties and other levies payable shall be indicated separately.
Desired shipping, installation and commissioning costs should be under DDP INCOTERMS 2020.

All bid documents submitted after the cut-off date set shall be rejected and returned unopened to bidders.
Bids shall be opened in the presence of the bidders and/or their representatives who choose to attend in person at the Clinton Health Access Initiative office at 2:15 pm ETH (GMT+3) on 18 Aug 2023. All bids must be accompanied by a 2% Bid Security of Bank “Casher Payment Order” in Ethiopian Birr, An unconditional Bank Guarantee, or an irrevocable Letter of Credit.
All interested bidders must have renewed license and bidder’s registration certificate from the Government of Ethiopia – Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
