Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. Policy Update:

STATEMENT
The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to saving lives, reducing the burden of disease, and strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world. CHAI areas of focus include HIV/AIDS and TB, Increasing the Efficiency and Effectiveness of Health Care Systems, Malaria, Human Resources for Health, Vaccines, and Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health.
CHAI is committed to ensuring public confidence in its practices as well as ensuring its policies regarding support from international partners are appropriate.
Effective January 2015, access to CHAI’s Donations portal should not be considered solicitation of funds (“Solicitation”) for individuals residing or accessing the website in the following US states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas , Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota , Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. For purposes of this policy, Solicitation shall mean the indirect request for donation of funds by electronic payment accessible via the World Wide Web.
Effective April 16, 2015, CHAI implemented the following policies:
Increase Donor Disclosure: CHAI increased the frequency of disclosure of donors from annually to quarterly, publishing new contributors beginning in July 2015, and then each quarter thereafter (i.e., October, January, and April).
Contributions from Foreign governments: CHAI will accept funding from foreign governments committed to meeting global health challenges, when:
1) The government has funded or is funding the lifesaving global health work of CHAI; and when
2) The government is one with which CHAI is now working in the developing world and the funds would directly support those efforts. CHAI encourages financial support from developing countries that want to contribute to building stronger health systems and improving health care quality. As part of its disclosure practices, CHAI will disclose whether funds originate from the developing country government or a multilateral development organization (e.g. the World Bank or the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria).
A list of CHAI donors and all countries where CHAI is currently working can be found on the CHAI website.
For any other foreign government, a new contribution first must be reviewed and approved by the Board Members of CHAI. The criteria used by the Board Members in conducting their review process will be made public. New foreign government donors that are approved will be posted on the CHAI website within seven days of approval.
